PHOTO PREPARATION GUIDE

2×2 inch photo: a 600×600 pixel crop

Prepare a square 2×2 inch crop, understand 300 DPI, and check the official U.S. visa photo instructions.

A square photo

Two inches equals 50.8 mm, commonly rounded to 51 mm in official instructions. At 300 DPI, a 2×2 inch image is exactly 600×600 pixels.

Check the upload requirements

U.S. visa instructions require a square photo and provide separate digital-image rules. The DV entry instructions specify 600×600 pixels and a JPEG of no more than 240 kB. A correctly sized crop alone does not check all requirements.

Keep your appearance unchanged

Use a recent, evenly lit original. Review editing restrictions for your application. Crop only preserves the original background; this tool does not certify official acceptance.
